no need to remove battery but some people are complaining about water tightness of the usb-c port if u connect a solar panel to it.

As other suggested, buy clear scotts tape, tape around the edge of the light. I also taped around the top where the solar is. So far so good.

All my 5 of S230 had water got in. 100% dead or half dead (light was on and off randomly due to water damage). I had to buy the scotts clear tap to tape it. So far so good with the tape of course.

Avoid and get the S220 instead. This model doesn’t last long and has issues with video lag, water seepage which frys the unit. Look at the negative reviews.

FYI: Solar panel often goes bad on this one. Get the one with separate solar panel, so you can replace it. My 2 solar panels got bad/damaged after 15-18 months appx - I live in Snow/Summer area.
