These have sensors on top and bottom. So if there is water pooling, even just a little bit, it will go off. On mine, the sensors on top will activate the alarm with a steamy shower as condensation...

You need pooling around bottom of the sensor for it alert you. Ill say at least a couple mm of water otherwise it won't go off.
