You can check if the bridge is grounded. That seems to be an issue with some guitars. Although if you need to fix the guitar might as well send it back.

I contacted Fender and they said the "Firestick Red" Was an FSR color limited to 180 guitars. Who knows.

It appears you'll be shocked to learn that Epiphones are Gibsons. Actually, not exactly, Epiphones are made abroad and higher end models are better quality than Gibsons.
