Valid points. I can't speak to the longevity of the monitor but I did purchase one and the Visa card came via email 2 days after the monitor shipped.
I certainly hope it lasts more than 8 months....

Don't. First one died 8 months in. It no longer powers up. Bought a second one and 2 months later the monitor doesn't wake from plugging in my work laptop. Need to unplug it and it will come back....
