I am not going to say it is a good NC BBQ sauce but it is a tasty sauce in a pinch to put on things. Though I have used it to make a quick "BBQ" sandwich I usually use it on other things because I...

Ya know..that is fair. I just associated Heinz with ketchup.. And it would be correct for an NC sauce to be much less thick than ketchup. In fact, your average SE NC sauce is about the thickness of...

Since I moved to Tennessee, I miss Eastern NC BBQ. The best I’ve found is Scott’s BBQ sauce. https://www.scottsbarbecuesauce.com

That's what it looks like. A very vinegar heavy version of a regular bbq sauce. A 'real' carolina bbq sauce is almost all vinegar though with maybe a splash of tomato for flavor. I'd just...

It's not going to literally say 'ketchup' in the ingredients but the ingredients for ketchup are effectively in the sauce. If you look for tomato based sauce recipes they will often have you start...

such as? I looked and couldn't find any that weren't a little pricey and specifically labeled as zero sugar or keto. IMO it doesn't need 8g per serving or higher. I've had great mop and loose...

I honestly didn’t know vinegar or mustard based bbq sauces had sugar at all. I try to use them vs the “ketchup” or “red” sauces, and the ones I’ve seen have like 0 or close to 0 calories on the label.

HFCS just tastes bad though. Feels like it clings to my mouth and throat or something, I just cannot stand it. I don't think I'm alone in this opinion.

Lillies ENC sauce is pretty good too, all the Harris Teeters in the VA area carry it. Really though the sauce is pretty simple to make: 1 cup white vinegar 1 cup cider vinegar 1 tablespoon brown...

I wish low sugar carolina vinegar type sauces were cheaper. Anyone got recommendations?

Eastern NC is mainly apple cider vinegar. It's not a sauce that clings. It is apple cider vinegar, sugar, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. That's it, but it works with pulled pork....

HFCS has been demonized because of its link to obesity and metabolic syndrome. There is some science behind the idea that large amounts of fructose can promote these effects. However, people over...

There’s no ketchup in this bbq sauce either. You see the word ketchup anywhere?

Where does the word “ketchup” appear anywhere on the label? Just because it’s Heinz doesn’t mean it’s ketchup

This is very vinegar forward and not at all like ketchup. It is like the cheaper pork BBQ sandwiches you used to get some places like cafeterias. I like this and it can be used on a lot of things. ...

I am in NC and I think I can find it in grocery stores. But it is still around $8 a bottle. Good stuff tho, don't skimp on BBQ sauce.
