Burnt wood is pretty easy to avoid by backing out as you drill. Recommended for both bi-metal and carbide.

This kit likely doesn’t make a big enough hole. Double check your mini split instructions. The ones I’ve installed required a 2.5 inch hole, so I used this 65mm bit, worked like a charm.
