On my shop vac I use panty hose over the filter. Works great. And also have dust collection system.

Also note that there is no pre-filter (foam filter) around the HEPA filter. I made my own by cutting one that I had for my small Shop-Vac, wrapping it around the HEPA filter, and holding it in place...

Great vacuum but it does eat batteries. I got a couple of 5 ah batteries and they handle most jobs. Can’t remember what I paid but $99 seems solid.
