This is one of my favorite Neil Gaiman books - I love it and recommend it all the time as one of his best. And I still like the movie more than the book.

I loved the movie and watched it multiple times over the years. Robert De Niro was amazing, I don't get the criticism. I was surprised to see Henry Cavill in it.

Agreed, it was a poor adaptation and I think the casting didn’t add anything to it.
Fortunately, the adaptation of his books hasn’t been as bad as some of Stephen King’s.
