It's alive, but not that useful anymore. Robocopy has been around for quite some time, can retry on errors, and has support for multi-threaded transfers which can drastically speed up copy operations...

It's really base 2 vs base 10 counting. Once you format the drive you'll see the logical volume (space the OS sees). My rule of thumb is that you lose anywhere from 7-9% in the formatting/translation...

Not necessarily. I keep mine and repurpose them for smaller drives. There are only 3 drive mfrs now and I haven't had a problem with it taking other drives, but I did snip pins on 2 controller boards...

he probably means the original DOS OS. Just a few years ago people used to talk about building a 20TB or 50TB file server that would need 20 disks. Now you can do it with 1/2 external drives...
