You could always just get a weatherproof enclosure and put some ventilation in the bottom with a filter

I would not worry too much about the brand.
I would suggest looking at powerline ethernet to see if you can use that for backhaul. Wifi likes open spaces so you can probably count on that working...

You can actually assign all of your current APs with same SSID and potentially allow your devices to roam between the APs more easily. The handoffs can be tricky though.
