I've got one of those cool micom rice cookers with a porridge setting that works great. I cook them in milk which gets the vent a little nasty, but it's easy enough to clean.

I like steel cut too. It takes about 10 mins to cook if you soak it overnight. The above recipes use old-fashioned/rolled oats. So does the instant oats packet.

Instant oats are rolled oats. They are just oats processed differently. I prefer steel cut oats, but they take about 45 minutes to cook, so not near as convenient.
