Biggest negative is pcie gen3 support only. Otherwise these run cold and sip power.

I am considering the same upgrade path. Though the 2200G and the 580 have been a great combo so far.

Faster than anything 1st or 2nd Gen Ryzen. Don't forget to use Curve Optimizer and PBO with a good cooler.

I replied in more detail above, but that logic makes sense at 1440p and above. At 1080p this will bottleneck a stronger GPU. I use the 5500 with a 6600xt and get a pretty significant cpu...

The B550 will be the best chipset to look for. Look for the cheapest one that has the features you want and go with that. Don;t get the cheapest but maybe 1 tier above that. So somewhere in the...

Yes. As long as your motherboard has a Bios that supports the 5500 this should be a nice inexpensive drop in replacement for 1600. The PCI-E 3 limitation and memory speed limits are a lot less likely...

It's a huge improvement over the 1600. Make sure you have the right motherboard BIOS to support a newer 5000 series.

I have a 5500 paired with a 6700xt. It’s a decent combo and runs most of the games I play at 1440p on high settings. One oddity is that I play a lot of CS2 and I prefer to play at 1080p, but I...

It's the same chip sans iGPU. Fast enough for an RX 6600. (I'd try to look for a used 5600 since those are flooding the market from Asian gaming cafes.)

Would this be a good replacement for my 5600G? I want to pair 5500 with RX6600 and build another PC with 5600G for my father in law. He will use it only for youtube and light gaming. I don't have the...

Currently the 5600 is $135 on Amazon. That’s a $50 difference. If that’s “so little more” then why not add another $50 and get a 5700x at $175. It goes on… While I’d never personally buy this...

Look up benchmarks and game reviews. The 5500 does surprisingly better mainly because singer core performance is quite a bit better
