Gaming and even light productivity, if upgrading, I'd personally go with the 5700x3d 10 times in 10. You want the high l3 cache and you also don't want to be crossing ccds. Of course, new build...

spend the extra and get an x3d model. you will be maxing out what the AM4 platform can do unless you are doing alot of rendering the extra cores wont really seem like much of a difference.

This is still a 'kick ass' CPU when it comes to both productivity and gaming, even compared to the 5800X3D and Ryzen 7xxx series. Most likely you'll run into a GPU bottleneck before encountering any...

I upgraded mine only the CPU from 3700x to 5900x for 4 months now. It's worth every penny. Huge improvement on doing 3D modeling and CAD design.

You have to tell people what you're doing with the processor and what the other components (e.g. RAM and GPU) are or this question is like "should I buy a F150?" Do you need to toe? Do you need...

For gaming only, no For productivity, probably. But it also probably depends on what your plans are for the 5600x

Pretty cool to have a high end processor only lose 20-25% of its value in two years. You got a good deal on a good CPU.

Paid 332 for this nearly 2 years ago (on prime day). Been a superb process for gaming and productivity. Scored 42500 Passmark (stock was like 41000) after doing some lite undervolting.
