They inflate with your mouth, it doesn't take much effort, if you inflate too much the pad becomes too stiff, they have a button to adjust the inflation level.

the sleeping pad has traction slip pads to keep your sleeping bag in place. So in theory, one pad can stay in place on the other.

I went hammock but still use air pads like this to keep my back from freezing in the hammock. For me it’s an “and” issue not “or”. Makes for a much better hammock experience.
