Notable cost-cutting: cable-actuated brakes instead of hydraulic and so-so WTB wheels. IMO, the $1500 Intense 951 from February was a better deal.

For what its worth, I was in the REI store today and the 3.1 is a lot beefier, probably around 30lbs. Also shifters are at the end of the handlebars and not on the brake levers.
