Excellent book, bit of a slog at certain points, but possibly Stephenson best (along with The Diamond Age). Basic (mild spoiler?) summary: Alternate Earth has become Idiocracy but they keep...

I consume most of my books through Audible. I like Stephenson and have listened to most of his work. Anathem is my favorite and the only one I’ve gone back to for a second listen. Stephenson is a...

This, and the Diamond Age, are my two favorite Neal Stephenson novels. Easily worth $2 even if you don't love it. FWIW I've read this book 3-4 times and each time I like it more.

To be fair that's Stephenson in general... I like his books but typically they don't so much end as they grind to a halt.

Why is that? I looked it up, almost same page count. But completely different plot, haha. Is it a good book? I'm always reading, and happy to try new things.

I wouldn't say 'phenomenal', but it was an interesting read. As for being for 'deep thinkers'... not really either. Just slow at times and a bit of a slough IMO compared to many of his others and...

I got about halfway through this book and just couldn't read it anymore. I have no idea where the story was eventually gonna go but it was taking forever to get there.

This book has stuck with me. It’s a long way to convey essentially one idea, but conveying that idea with extreme slowness is true to that one idea.

I loved snow crash. I went on to this and it seemed the author was really flexing some brain muscles which I just don’t have. I didn’t finish it.
