I cancelled and they offered me $3.33/month to stay on which is much better than the $14? they were planning to renew me at.

This is why you should use either a low-balance MC/Visa gift card, or a virtual card with a low limit. In case you forget to cancel. You can switch your payment card if you did not sign up with one...
