my experience is that with tv's it's best to use the vga port... you will most likely have geometry problems using the hdmi in fact the owners manuals usually will tell you that in your case...

I tried using VGA port and the max resolution I can use that works is 1280 x 720 with VGA port. How do I set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 with HDMI ???

flea is right. 1080p TVs max out at a resolution of 1920 x 1080, so you will need to set your video output to that. I doubt HDMI overscan is really the issue, but it may be. However, I have noticed...

The TCL can do 1920x1080, but not 1900x1200. There may also be an issue with overscan on HDMI. Try using the VGA port on it.
