the mount is from "Monoprice" (great deals on the site by the way) and this the second one I've gotten from them & they don't seem to come with drill bits.

I think most of those come with the drill bit. Use the one they supply as it is a masonry bit. Probably go with 5"?? They are the blue ones.

If the studs are spaced apart you should just be able to mount it to them. If not you can take a couple pieces of 2x4 or 2x6 and lag them to your studs and then lag the mount to those boards.
