You need to have proof of purchase in order to get your deposit back, at least where I get my kegs. Barcode on the keg matching receipt, mainly so people don't steal kegs and get deposits.

Definitely Craigslist, though I have also seen them for sale on E-bay. In our area (Southern California) they run around $30 on Craigslist.

Try on a homebrewers forum. These kegs are easily converted to be used in all-grain brewing.
