The firetruck is motorized. However, this set comes with the plastic track, not the wooden rail.
The wooden trains work fine on the plastic. We basically made a circle with the plastic track...

Good toy, my son loved it! Takes a little while for the crane to lift the basic, but it does its job! I also love the connector for the wire, its so easy to unplug and untangle.
