It'll cut new growth; but you're not going to clear a swath of established ivy or jasmine. Trim...yes; major cutting...not so much.

just bought it from sears. looking good on the review. i sold my gas edger the blade juststopped turning if hitting ground/thick grass. I wish this one perform better.

Rather buy the trimmer + edger. Better bang for your buck if you are patient and take the time to learn proper edging.

not really. It reminds me of a circular saw on a pole. Sounds like it (but quieter) but very little vibration.

I have this edger and it's very good. I used it installing my dogs electric fence wire on it's trenching setting and it works great. Alot cheaper than paying someone to do it.
