This is normal. 2.4ghz has a longer wavelength and can travel through more obstructions than 5ghz. If you have really thick walls then you are going to be SoL.

Ok i checked it appears the systems i have will not utilize the 5ghz part just the 2.4 ghz even though they are N... I guess some items produced have to be made for the 5ghz band or they wont even...

that may be the problem I don't think my items utilize the 5ghz band well,, they accept the N but think they are 802.11 b/g/n at 150mbps..
