Yeah... I know that now, but back in another century, when I lived in the Great White North, I always thought that the sub zero cold was the battery's worse enemy. Live and learn.

Heat is actually what kills a car battery. You just notice it in the cold if you live in that type of climate. http://corporate.interstatebatteries.com/heat_kills_batteries/

Now I start to wonder why no one makes Li-ion car batteries except the very expensive (and heavy/huge) ones for EVs. Aren't those more resistant to temperature change? But then again Nissan Leaf's...

Yep, when I was telling my friend in Arizona that I had to replace my battery after 5-6 years, he was surprised because his are lucky to last two.

Y'all know how hard cold weather is on a car battery and you'd think that the battery would last so much longer in the hotter climates, yet here in the tropics, I have to change my car battery every...

:iagree: I have to do that one an old car of mine (vintage 1995 with around 212 K miles on it) just because I am getting the transmission oil pressure up before driving it.

The battery is in along with the new hold-down bracket because the old hold-down rod snapped when I was removing the battery. The oxidation really ate through the metal rod but I got more than 10...

I agree here that the block heater should be the last thing done. I would not go to 0 weight oil unless the manufacture recommends it. With 0 weight you will be synthetic (its the only way to get...

1. You need a new battery. Once you have gotten that, you need to reassess if you need to do anything else. 2. Synthetic oil should help. If you have done those two, and it's still not good...

The battery looks great. I don't know how much of a difference it will make to go to 0W-30 from 5W-30, but engines love oil changes anyhow, so it's not wasted money unless it costs a lot more.

They and most other auto stores will probably recharge a battery even if you didn't purchase it from them. Should say on their websites.

A block heater is obviously preferable, but this function has it's place and really wouldn't be so bad if it's properly configured and used sparingly. If configured properly, the car should start...

Synthetic doesn't break seals but is just so much more slippery that it's a lot more prone to leak past marginal seals. For example, I once switched to synthetic 10W-30, and in a week I started to...
