Typically, unplug controller/cord, machine wash cold + gentle, hang dry. Probably best used with topsheet or coverlet to minimize need for washing. Should last about 10 years with maybe 1-2 washes...

I actually had the opposite experience.
I found the heated matrress pad made the bottom of my body relaly hot while the top remained cold.
I expect this is because most of the heat escapes up...
