The funds in your wallet will never expire. The expiration is only for the code, which needs to be redeemed before the 5th. You're good to go! :)

I signed up for ps+ last year when they had the spend 100 get $20 credit. I also purchased a few items about a month and half ago when they had a special running.

I think you need to have spent a certain amount on your psn to have received the 10$.
Both me and my brother got one. He and I have spent well over 100$ on our accounts.
