Maybe had I not given the answer it would have been a "d-bag" remark. Instead, I gave the answer and how I found the answer while preempting someone else saying "just google it".

Long lost are the days receiving an answer from someone without a smart-ass "google tip" attached at the end. If your so damn smart (typing keywords into a box), might it be best just to keep...

Assuming the same workload, yes it would last twice as long. Each block would have the same lifetime, but there would be twice as much space for the drive to use before it has to cycle through the...

It's the combo of the MB and SSD. But when I first seen this I literally couldn't believe it. That is powered off state, not sleep mode or hibernate. I retook the video 5 times because I couldn't...

So you need a big 2nd drive to store your files but have no idea why anyone would need a bigger SSD? :D
Um.... that's hilarious. What are you using your computer for? Screen shot please? I don't use my SSD for storage.

Incorrect by scientific standards. Also you obviously simply don't use your computer. I have 1tb of writes on my MLC SSD after 1 month.
All of this is based on what? I've seen the 840 go for 400TB of writes before kicking the bucket. I'd rather have quality TLC over inferior MLC (like OCZ) any day of the week. I have a 240gb...

TLC based drives will last you about 1 year. Good luck to all who purchased this.

If you write to your SSD twice as much as the average user then you wouldn't be looking at TLC based SSD. This is why the Pro version exist for a reason. (Which is geared towards more for...

You can clearly see this with every 840 deal. People just flock there. 3.5 years estimated life? Geez, what if I write to my SSD twice as much as an average user - less than 2 years of life. Thank...

I run VMs. For others, it might be high IO apps like video processing or editing. There's always a reason. I'm glad your 90GB works for you. :)

The 256 is practically $200... http://www.adorama.com/SSG7PD256BW.html But they want $500 for the 512gb 840 pro. Is that the one you're waiting to hit $200?? If it did before, that sounds like...

I have no idea why people need such huge SSD drives... Still going strong on my 2 year old 90GB SSD. 20GB free left. Everything else like files in storage gets dumped on my 1TB 7200 RPM that...

Thanks to zhopa, mantis3 and arenaninja for replying to my post about how to best use the Samsung 840 500GB and 840 Pro 256GB SSDs in my new Desktop build. I now have a clearer understanding on how I...

Huge difference, the system is also quieter. Love my SSD. I have an old Intel X25 SATAII running on an i7 and it doubled my boot time. I'm waiting for the 840Pro to go on sale for 200 bucks again.
