Just got mine in. The microphone doesn't work on my Android phone, even though Android was mentioned in the description. Looks like it's wired specifically for Apple devices.

If you use something like comply foam tips then you will be able to block your ears with your earphones like you would with a ear plug, you will barely be able to hear anything other than your music.

If you are looking to block outside noise these headphones might do the trick. They are really fugly but do a good job of blocking noise passively.

My Betas are blocking the most annoying soundmaker (little cousin) very efficiently. So noise isolation is good but she starts to punch me when I don't hear her. YMMV with kids.

It depends on how much isolating you're looking for. These fit in your ear with varying tip styles, some are silicone or something that isolate pretty well. But you won't get REALLY good isolation...
