The retail version was just $85 at amazon. Didn't realize this price is slick.

But you just can't ignore the flood. It happened so your expectations should be adjusted accordingly. Also this is a premium drive so it can fetch a higher price. Look at the price of a WD...

Right. So without the flood I would have expected to buy a 3 or 4 GB drive at this price point by now. It's just tough to get excited about $80/GB for hard drives.

In a few cases it looks like the Fry's drive was SATA2.

I'm confused. This is getting pounded for thumbs up @ $80. Last week Fry's has this very same drive in a retail box for $74 and it goes ignored.

Thanks, OP! In for 2. Where did you find the promo code? One of their email? Wasn't listed obviously under the item like they often are in Newegg.

Checked camelcamelcamel and the lowest preflood price for this drive was $75 at newegg and $70 at amazon.

Have this in my HTPC, super quiet, really fast (gets close to 2009/2010 model SSDs with up to 190Mbps Read / 130 Write). I got a used 2TB Caviar Black for only $120. My opinion is to save an extra...

Kind of disappointing that HDD prices still haven't come back down. They were this price 4 years ago.
