How is that different to the situation when it's unencrypted? Are you saying that if you disconnect service, Comcast sends a truck out to physically disconnect the co-ax at the pole?

Actually, it does lower costs since it eliminates truck rolls. You have live/on cable services even when your service is disconnected. Of course MBA's get a hold of the idea and tack on more fees...

The FCC changed the law in the fall and they are now allowed to and from my understanding that is the plan. Comcast already encrypts everything else.

Most of those you can get online free but also should get with an antenna. Discovery is the one that you require cable for or a box. But you can wait for those shows to be on Netflix.
