Crucial's site is not 100% accurate. According to Crucial, my e5530 should max out at 2x4GB but I'm running 2x8GB in it right now.

same here, too rich for my blood. My Lenovo G780 isn't supposed to support over 8 GB but I can't see why not try if it's cheap. Just a few years ago RAM was cheap but now it's prohibitive.
