What I don't get is, subsidize loans are also going to 6.8% from 3.4%. But the govt pays the interest if the student is in college the first 4 years. So isn't the government spending more paying...

My federal graduate school loans are already 6.8%, which sucks, but private loans are worse as pointed out above.

I heard stafford loans are increasing from 3~ to 6~ percent. I think I have some loans at 1.9% variable rate, are those affected?
