Anyways. In the end I got me a T530 (its big, but so am I :) ) with a quad core i7 and 4 Gb of RAM and an SSD from the Lenovo Outlet for 1180$. Expensive. But it's okay. fast processor!
is this a good thinkpad deal?

You don't need a really high end setup for Eclipse - I'd definitely recommend the T430 (NOT the s) with an i5 compared to everything else you mentioned. You can kick that one up to 16GB, but I'd buy...

That's a great price for a T420 w/SSD. Has the good resolution screen & the fingerprint reader is a nice bonus. I'd say if you need a new machine, this one is a great one to consider.
