Second that, but I'd personally phrase it as "Any decent engine, properly maintained" If you aren't comfortable (Or are lazy like me :lmao:) changing out the oil and sparkplug, a small-engine shop...

Any decent engine will outlast the other mower parts like the drive system. My yardman mower with Briggs and Stratton engine is 12 years old, mows a 120' x140' lawn and still starts on the 1st or 2nd...

I'm no expert, but I've heard the same thing. Also, for anyone considering these, the longer you wait, the better the deals. I picked one up a few years ago for $90 in October or November.

I prefer the Honda engines on mowers because they are pretty easy to work on and have used the same base design for many years. Just my opinion though.
