I used the disks Dell sent me, drivers/operating system. Dell tech support walked me through it . I did not partition the drive.I could have done it without them.

Hi, I am also planning to upgrade to SSD. How you transferred the data to new SSD including the OS? Did you faced any issues with partitioning ? Did you referred and article or video to do...

Just an update... Upgrade was successful. I bought the Crucial drive recommended. The stock Dell HD replaced was 7 mm , but a 9.5 mm drive would have fit just as well. I ended up using the adapter...

If your laptop's bay is indeed 9.5 mm, there shouldn't be any problems fitting a 7 mm because it would be smaller. SSD's slide into the slot with ease and just need to be screwed down to hold them...

I upgraded my laptop'a 7200 rpm drive with a 128 GB Crucial M4 and it is now blazing fast. I tested them both with benchmarks before and after the install. 90 MB per second on the hard drive is a...

Pretty sure the Crucial deal I linked to is 7 mm, so you should be safe if it's still alive. 7 mm will fit in 9.5 mm, but obviously it won't work the other way around. That drive is actually the same...

Nah, I'm going to have to disagree as well. Unless you're low on RAM (not likely these days), an SSD is the one best upgrade you can do on any computer, simply because a spinning HD is by far the...

I disagree. SSDs are great for some things not laptops as the single sole drive. You are entitled to your perspective as I am mine. BTW more RAM or better GPU is much better than SSD on many...

Just because you "fiddle" with computers does not mean your experience translates to the general masses. The speed difference between a standard 7200rpm and a decent SSD is tremendous. The SSD...
