In my opinion, it's the artist's/producer's/engineer's job to decide what sounds good, not the speaker's. If you disagree with them, applying some EQ is a good idea.

I have both, and as noted in another post entirely different, but both give that memorable Sennheiser sound.
The open back HD6xx give a nicer more realistic sound stage and overall flat response...

Completely different headphones for different uses. The Momentums are closed back and low impedance for portable use. The HD650 is open back and high impedance, which is more for the home.
