No, it'll build it too but not as considerably. But I agree on interest, I see it like setting your $20 bills on fire, same things as paying interest.

The other advice here is good, I would just add: don't pay to "build credit" - anything such as paying interest or similar won't actually help (and will most likely hurt instead).

Disagree. Apply for a college targeted credit card, they are approved to kids who turn 18 years old and have no credit whatsoever, just need to have a SSN. Just do a research on the approval average...
