They are no where near done with the manga and they don't release chapters very often. I think the manga has been going since the late 80s or early 90s. Thus the bad ending.

I would recommend trying to find the original series. Whatever ended up on Netflix a year or two ago looked like rubbish. CGI crapfest imo.

Even if the movies and tv series caught up to the manga, it still wouldn't be finished because the manga still isn't finished. The ending will still be 'evil guys win and good guys lose' though.

very little... The 3rd movie has an "extended" ending where it shows more than where the anime ended. But only about 5-10 minutes worth.
