I can verify Verizon works on it. My work phone is an iPhone 5S with nano sim, which the Nexus 5X also uses. I just installed the work phone's verizon sim card and everything works.

all you need is the correct sim, works on all networks (my N6 works fine on Ring+) - that's one of the advantages to buying a Nexus.

All nexus phones are supported for at least 3 years. There's an official statement on google's website somewhere. This phone will get at least Android N and O.
