I have owned quote a few 11e's in my day. Very sturdy computers but the one to get is the yoga. It is worth the extra for the better screen and folding hinge.

For a kid I think the Chromebook 11 - 3120 as it's probably tougher. Then again, at this price point you're talking nearly disposable computer so timing may be more important than toughness.

I'd suspect the reverse here since the storage is eMMC. It's a Thinkpad chassis so the RAM may be in typical slots instead of soldered. I'll do some digging and post what I find.
