Google "hard drive test" and run tests that take a while to complete. Badblocks is good, but it may be linux only. There should be windows tests floating around too.

Very, the 32MB was a Deskstar Desktop, however they've been shipping 64MB cache version for a while - which is a MegaScale, it'll show the same part # as above in CrystalDiskInfo or whatever HDD...
