I always use Tomato over dd-wrt. And yes I can't stand stock firmware except Asus Merlin which is just stock with bugs zapped.

it's actually best not to install ddrwt on these if all you using it for is an AP. ddrwt does not utilize the hardware acceleration like the stock firmware will. yes you will get more features but...

Install dd-wrt or dd-wrt Kong build and that's it. Don't look back. I refuse to buy routers these days that don't support 3rd party firmware. R7000 was and is still considered one of the best routers...
