you should always have a copy or two of your backup, you will know this when the only backup device fails and end up paying thousands for recovering data.

It's been my experience that 10 GB/12 GB drives typically show up in antique markets and the cost per GB is insanely high in comparison to newer multi TB drives. :D

May have a problem with your router. In my experience, many routers have issues with usb hubs on their usb ports. You'd probably have better luck googling your router model + usb + hub
