What kind of receiver do you have? Most should already have a coaxial input. If you need a digital optical input, then you'll need that monoprice converter.

Soooo... Got this SD for my g/f who was looking for a no-frills HDTV, but we both value high-end sound. I'm looking to output the sound from this TV to a receiver that's a little long in the tooth...

Mine died (power issue) after 4 days. Consider getting extended warranties on this model.

Sight unseen it's pretty hard to go one way or the other. The brand name of JVC probably invokes a bit more consumer confidence than Proscan. But then again, surely JVC is just a badge on a TV, not...

Also, can anyone tell me why they would choose this TV over the other Proscan PLDED5069 50" for $230? Better picture? More Reliable? Is it really worth a $30 increase in price?

Does anyone know if you can connect a soundbar via digital optical cable to this? Edit, I figured out that it just has a standard digital coaxial output which can be used with a coaxial to optical...

LG with WebOS is really good, especially if you get the magic remote. App selection could be better, I agree, but the most common ones are there.

I thought you meant you played around with the features in the gen 2 stick. Didn't realize you meant the tv it was connected to. I'll check it out when I get home. Thanks.

Every tv manufacturer is different. This is what I found for Vizio: https://www.techwalla.com/articles/how-to-turn-off-vizio-overscan

How did you turn it on/off? All it said was adjust the tv's overscan feature/zoom setting. I didn't see the ability to change it on the device.

Looks like we are both right. Just checked our basement set (family/kids play room) that has the Gen 2 stick and like yours, the feature doesn't work and the latest software versions are different...

I will check the tv settings again (it is a vizio) but I think the discrepancy is that you *don't have the latest version installed. I'm running FireOS 5.2.4.0. I guess they disabled the scaling...

They really could have put their point out there without being churlish. If you think your cheap tv is good enough, good for you! Rock that thing. I do take issue with your theory too, but I...

Yup, just tried it now on my older living room 47" Philips and my kitchen 24" Dynex (with Overscan setting turned on, not sure if that matters). I adjusted the picture so it's too small, saved it...

Do they? Mine still has the ability to open that screen but when you actually try to scale it you can't. Try actually adjusting it. Amazon support told me the feature was removed.
