Conclusion

Though faster than most hard drives, the OCZ Core Series 64GB SSD still suffers from a few major flaws related to its poor write performance. As prices of SSDs continue to drop, however, and capacities get larger, they will certainly become a terrific investment. This particular SSD is the cheapest SSD presently available, so those looking for an SSD should look no further, though there are faster and more efficient (albeit much more costly) ones on the market. Hard drives are still the kings of cost-effective storage; therefore, it may take some time before SSDs go mainstream.

Pros:

+ Ultra silent, reliable, and cool
+ Incredibly fast read rates and boot-up time
+ Very low power consumption
+ Cheapest SSD option at this time
+ Very high shock resistance (up to 1500G)
+ 2 year warranty
+ Lightweight

Cons:

- Still expensive (ludicrous per GB prices)
- Only available in limited capacities
- Subpar write rates
- No SATA cable or 2.5″ to 3.5″ bracket included for use in PCs
