Sneak Preview

Here at Slickdeals, we try our best to continually update our website to provide the most useful tools and experience for our users. We’ve been working on an update to our forum software, based on various user feedback. Today, we’d like to share with you a little sneak peak of what will be coming in the near future.

First Post Updates

In this series of updates, we’re changing how we present threads. Now, when a user views a thread, the first post (Post #1 in a thread), will have a special style attached to it. Naturally, all other posts (replies) will be in the regular forum style!

fp2New High Visibility Title
One of the major changes we did was changed the way the title is displayed. Now it is going to be a high contrast, large font title.
fp3Reformatted User Display
Since we’re redesigning the first post style, we also took this chance to make a little change to the user display area. This way, the Original Poster (OP) gets a special design :) .
fp3Wikipost got his pink slip
Sorry to say it, but we decided to let wikipost retire. Now, the wiki board is not attributed to a user and has its own special section under the first post.
fp3Quote Style Update
We gave the [quote] tag a little refresh to make them easier to read!
fp5Public Opinion Area
For threads that have voting, users will now see the thumbs, votes, and scores for the thread. In addition, we have tabbed this area to provide some useful tools. We havn’t solidified exactly which tools we’ll put there so, for now, its purely representative!
fp5Thread Feedback
From your very own user feedback, we’ve added a feedback function for thumbs down. If a user decides to rate a post negatively, they will now have the option of specifying why they chose to do so! Options will include things like “Not a good price” or “Unable to replicate deal”.
fp5Voting Results
Here you will be able to see a graph that represents the voting feedback of the community, so at a quick glance, you’ll be able to see if its a good or bad thread and why!

We’re happy to share this preview with you and hope you’re as excited as we are to get it rolled out. You can look for this update to occur in the very near future!
