I needed extra storage space but nothing through black Friday really impressed me. Some deals were good but expensive. Haven't seen a Western Digital internal this size at this price in forever. Bunch of other good deals on hard drives as well. This one is essentially a green drive and slower so should be used for storage and not a main drive. Reviews mostly say quiet and cool. Very good reviews across many sites.

Ends 12/31/19, 11:59 PM EST or while supplies last.

Just to make some people happy, you can also pick up an 8tb WD external drive which can presumably be shucked and contain a white or red driver. Best Buy has them on sale right now. Google checkout has a $20 off coupon which I presume is ymmv. https://www.google.com/shopping/p...gL80_D_BwE

I would also assume this voids warranty so do so at your own risk.
If you purchase something through a post on our site, Slickdeals may get a small share of the sale.

Fyi, 5400 rpm.

Wow. That's a lot of hate thrown in quickly at someone trying to help others get a good deal. I feel this was all already addressed in the original post but here goes:

"Just a heads up, these are 5400 RPM"
Yes, it was mentioned that this particular drive is slow. I'd prefer 7200 but for the price difference I'll take it. Faster drives were included in the post link.

"So none of WD white label drives (from Easystore) impressed you?"
"Didn't want to shuck any of the 8/10/12/14TB drives?"
Perhaps I didn't catch every black Friday deal but my main issue was that my budget wasn't much over $100 right now. There were great deals on 10TB+ drives but I don't have $200 to spend on them at the moment. Only saw one or two comparable deals in this price range. Also, trying not to cause a debate but I like WD far more than Seagate. Either way, this is a great deal.
I wouldn't take it personally. There are a lot of people who follow HD sales specifically and recently there have been quite a few 12TB@$180 and 14TB@$200 sales (<$15/TB) for NAS quality drives.

This one would be an okay desktop storage drive at $18/TB - so I think you're just getting some feedback from the group looking for the NAS deals.
Thanks. I just get frustrated easy when posting. I've given hundreds of thumbs up and like 2 thumbs down. People are taking their time to post for other people. Unless there is very good reason to do otherwise, if I don't like a deal I move on. I was very sceptical of using 5400 but I watch videos off of one all the time and it's plenty fast for that and copying. I use an SSD for my main drive anyways as everyone probably should. Sorry. Just saw the negative comments poor in so quick and I checked all current slick deals on hard drives before posting and felt this was good enough to take the time to share. I appreciate someone being nice about it 😊

No WD Red deals. The Elements boxes seem to be the same price as BF ...

Best to shuck the EasyStores for reds.

Edit: I am not trying to downvote this, it is indeed a good deal for the blues.

Thank you! Since you mentioned shucking... I posted a good shuck deal in the op now. I would assume this is easy and straightforward but I've never done one. Anything we should know? Some mentioned Taiwan vs China. Anyway to know before ordering? That much of a difference? Do we need to worry about a pin/data power issue? Thanks in advance!
