https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1 is the one I used. I would recommend checking camelcamelcamel for when cheaper, got mine on sale for 20 in July.

Cant find the one i got from HomeDepot but heres a comparable board from lowes :

Cheaper if build on your own, got the brackets on Amazon (heavy duty, 300 lb) for 25 and an appearance board from HD for like 25. More customizable that way too with regard to length of work bench
The heavy duty one was $209 back in April FYI. really nice bench though

It's nice but seems a little expensive for what it is…

I could use a little bench in the garage so I'll try out that 4ft version.

I have the 8ft non-folding one in my basement and tempted to get another. Those benches are pretty nice for what they cost. Wish they were about 6" deeper though.

It really isn't especially if it is a solid wood top. They're basically heavier-duty foldout table for work areas. If you need a surface to work on or place stuff, you pop it out and it clicks in place. If you destroy the top part, you buy another one and mount it on. If you don't need it anymore, fold it back down and it hardly takes space. If you want your workspace higher, you can mount it that way. It isn't as movable as a foldout table is since you mount it on something. It doesn't have legs so you can place things underneath it as long as it doesn't obstruct its folding or bash up against the metal part that props the table up. The fancier the top is or the bracket quality/weight, the pricier it is.

It is a neat thing. Work had a few for a lab. If we needed additional tables against the wall we pop it up and put stuff on it. If we don't need it anymore or we have to turn it into a storage room, we fold it down. I have one in the house now and it is hella useful.

Would the folding version be sturdy enough for using a miter saw?

What is your intention? Is it to leave it extended all the time, with the miter saw screwed onto it? Or to have the miter saw stgored elsewhere, then to extend the table up, put the miter saw on top, and use it?

I am sure it is solid enough for a miter saw

I grabbed three of the light duty when they were on sale last month. They are really handy.

Sure, but the top is wood so longevity might not be very good.

Should be. It says 500 lb rating. Depth might be a problem if you have a sliding miter saw depending on installation.

What about the metal? Is that rust proof?

No. It's painted steel.
