I bought this phone about a week ago. It seems ok, it was spamming me with notifications so I uninstalled just about everything that I could and went with minimal apps. I thought the OS was updated after I initialized it but maybe it was something else. The OS takes up about 13gb out of the 32gb storage. There was still plenty of room to install the maps me mapping app plus download all the US maps (about 8gb) so it can be used as a gps for the car without using the data. I probably still have about 10gb of storage free I have the data shut off just about all the time and use wifi when it is available. I plan on installing skype on it soon for use with wif too, I expect it should work well. Hopefully it does not have a crash issue in the future though as the battery cannot be removed unless you use tools and remove screws, etc. .It seems to work ok, it is hard to beat for $36 delivered with a year of service. The number I was first assigned was horrible, I received at least a dozen scam/spam calls in just 3 days but they have an automated toll free number that allows you to change your number in just a couple of minutes and without talking to anyone at Tracfone. The new number seems much better.
Interesting, after at least 4 TF phones I can't recall getting an OS update of any sort, just some apps in the case of this Samsung. Don't believe I've seen an Android update. I know Android is separate but I thought the vendors manipulated it themselves to control various GUI and functional features. More likely - do the vendors contract with the manufacturer for any updates? Is that why the TF-specific sub-models don't ever get updates, while the consumer versions often do?

It's a good deal for the service, contemplating if I have a use for a second phone.

I'm a longtime TF user so I know about the service, etc. Is this phone decent among the usual TF offerings? I currently have their Samsung Galaxy J7 Sky Pro and like the balance of quality and economy, but would like to move beyond Android 6.0. Can anyone comment how this compares? In the past, I've thought the low end Samsung phones were a little nicer than the LG ones.

There's no quality with your phone. Only economy. Who are you trying to fool?

Phone is no longer supported since LG is out of the phone business. I'd get something better than this if you plan to use it for a while.

Good to know, thanks. TF doesn't do anything with their phones anyway. What might I miss with LG gone?

Manufacturers handle updates, not TF.
My TF Motorola, Samsung & iPhones all have received at least one major software & several security updates. This deal might be OK if you need the service but I wouldn't buy it for the phone, I'd switch plan to something better after activation.

Really not bad - if you have existing service with them. This can extend another year, plus the reward points to add another 5gb data.

Just like any TF bundle, Yes.
When activating phone choose keep current number & plan will combine with whatever current service you have. Service will be switched to the new phone.

You can then switch it back to the old phone if you prefer. I just did that a couple of months ago.

No, new phone has to be activated to get promotional minutes. You can later switch back to previous phone by reactivating it & keeping same number.

Hi - can you help me understand how you did this? Is this more complicated then simply taking out the SIM from the new LG phone and installing it in my current phone to extend my plan and calling Tracfone to switch my phone # to the new SIM?

thanks
