The triple port adapter usually sells for ~$7-$10. So ~$20 ish for a 50ft., 12 gauge extension cord isn't too bad, right?

14/3 is lighter, 10/3 is really heavy duty. 16/2 is the lightest.
I have been wanting to get a 13 amp dethatcher, but I need a minimum of 100ft for our yard. The longer the cord length, the more electrical current is lost to whatever the heavy-duty extension cable is powering. So for this application, at 100 feet, 12 gauge can take up to 15 amps at 1650 watts. 14 gauge might work, but would likely get really hot.
